Welcome To Jamuna Prasad Verma P.G. Arts & Commerce college

Established in 1944, the college is only Multi-Faculty Co-educational

Government Post-Graduation Institution in the city. The department of English of this college is as old as the college itself. An Institution is known by the faculty and the students it has. The Department of English has been fortunate enough to witness the great literary giants under whose guidance the department flourished and whose planning and vision took the institution towards great academic heights. Post-Graduation came into existence in the year 1963. The Department feels proud on the great teachers of the Dept. who played a vital role in shaping the various personalities since very beginning. At present all the teachers of the Department are Committed to create an academic atmosphere and maintain a cordial relationship with the students.

In February 2017 College has been accredited by NAAC with Grade A. It is a matter of great pride that in the report of NAAC the name of department of English has been mentioned thrice for appreciation.

English Association

Students actively participate invarious academic activities under the banner of this Association. Guest speakers are invited to deliver lectures and P.G. students get benefitted by the lectures.

Strengths of the Department

i) Oldest and well-known department of this region and second oldest of the state.

ii) The Department is only Co-educational Government Post-Graduation Dept. in the city.

iii) The Department has well-qualified teachers who maintain cordial relationship with students and create academic atmosphere.


Weakness:

The college is multi-faculty co-educational institution where B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, B.B.A .B.A. literature and Post-Graduate classes are taught. Admission is given to students as per Govt.reservation rules. Poor base of the students in language knowledge cause problems in delivering the desired and expected results, still department is committed for the upliftment and betterment of the weakersection of the students.


Challenges

The limited resources and poor background of the learners (mostly from rural areas and Weakersection of the society) cause problem to deliver the desired aim.


Future Plan

To update old English Language Lab in computer assisted language lab.
